Analysis

The 68th edition of the Coppa Sabatini – Gran Premio Città di Peccioli will surely be quite more difficult than the race it shares organisers with, the Giro della Toscana held a day earlier (actually, the former is a ProSeries event while the latter is just a 1.1 race). The main reason will be the continuous ups and downs, with not much rest in between, over two circuits that combine for a very interesting total of 210km – quite suiting for a pre-Worlds event.

The first circuit, seven laps (21km each), features the gentle ascent to Terriciola (3.8km, 3%) and the climb up to the finish in Peccioli’s Piazza del Popolo, 1km @ 7%. The second loop, over five laps of 12km, will take the riders over the last climb more repeatedly, trying to split a group which, nonetheless, still saw significant fields contesting the win through a sprint in previous editions.
