Analysis

THe GP Larciano has been the Tuscan ‘intermezzo’ between Strade Bianche and Tirreno-Adriático for the last few years, which has allowed the event bringing some WorldTour squads and turning its modest, attractive course into a very interesting one.

The 199km route has not suffered any changes from last year. There are two circuits: a flat, 22.3km, four-lap opening one and a harder, more decisive 27.5km course (another four laps) including the San Baronto ascent through the Fornello (3.2km at 6%). There’s only 6km from the top of the village marking the end of the ascent to the finish, which makes difficult for the bunch to catch back as the downhill ends with only 1.5km to go.
