62.8 Kilometers
The opening team time trial of the 2018 World Championships in Innsbruck (Austria) will be -at least for the time being- the last under its current format, with trade teams, to be held in such an event. It will thus be the final chance for the Movistar Team to repeat great results like the one obtained in 2015, when the squad directed by Eusebio Unzué claimed the bronze medal in Richmond (USA).
The 62km parcours, starting at the Ötztal valley and finishing in the Tirol’s capital, are made of a fast opening section, slightly downhill; a series of short slopes halfway through the course; and a crucial climb near the end: the ascent between Kermaten and Axams, 3.9km at nearly 7% gradient. Crested with 18km to go, it will be crucial to hest the teams’ cohesion and overall strength before a final flat section to the finish.
