Ladies Tour of Norway
540 Kilometers 4 Stages
The Ladies Tour of Norway, one of the highest-standard stageraces in the UCI Women’s WorldTour, continues to pave its way in the summer calendar, anticipating what -in the near future- could be called the ‘Battle of the North’. It will be a race around ten days long, in all parts of Scandinavia, which aspires to become another ‘Grand Tour’ -by its length, only the Giro Rosa can call itself so- in international women’s cycling.
The dual climb of the 1.3km long, 7,3% average Fredriksten Fortress (Saturday 24th), inherited from the team time trial which acted as ‘prelude’ to the race in 2018, will be the most demanding finish of a race otherwise up and down during its four days. All final circuits are technical and have small, steep climbs, which, combined with the always-changing weather in the area, makes for a really thrilling race.
** Some interesting sidenote: the race is held in southeast Norway, really close to the Vargarda races the week prior, and nearly its whole stage four takes place on Swedish soil.
