Analysis

The second edition of the Vuelta Aragón since it was recovered in 2018 by the Federación Aragonesa de Ciclismo will offer a quite more open course than last year’s, with not only big climbers having a shot at the overall success.

The toughest stage (Saturday 18th) features a sequence of climbs not incredibly hard, yet quite close together: Santa Bárbara (Cat-3), San Juan de la Peña (Cat-2), Oroel (Cat-2) and Somport (Cat-3). There’s no long, steep slopes, so the race scenario could offer some room for faster riders not so suited to big mountains.

Before that, the race will cover an opening stage clearly favouring sprinters in Calatayud (Friday 17th). The quickest men in short distances will have another chance on Sunday 19th, just 127km with crosswind danger from Huesca to Zaragoza.
