Analysis

Six months after its latest edition to date, the Settimana Coppi e Bartali comes back to its traditional March slot, yet again one month away from the Giro d’Italia. Its route will also remain pretty similar to the 2020 race, taking advantage from an extra day of racing -five, instead of four- granted by the UCI.

The only big change actually resides in that extra stage, with all other stages remaining almost the same as last year. The race kicks off on Tuesday 23rd with a double sector in an around Gatteo, which comprises a morning road stage of 97.8km -with three climbs of the ‘Muro di Longiano’ (1km at 10%)– and a 14km team time trial in the afternoon, this time away from the coast.

A day later (Wednesday 24th), riders will climb five times to Sogliano al Rubicone, over a 3.5km ascent at 6%. On Thursday 25th, they will take on the GPMs of Monte Carpegna, Villaggio del Lago and Albereto towards Riccione’s finish. Friday 26th will bring the race to a new venue in the Republic of San Marino, with a hilly course featuring seven 2.2km ascents at 6%. And finally, on Saturday 27th, seven climbs of the Rocca delle Caminate (3.2km at 7%) before the finish in Forlì.
