Analysis

Following an extraordinary performance in the Ronde van Vlaanderen, fighting toe-to-toe against some of the strongest squads in the peloton, most Movistar Team riders present at ‘De Ronde’ will also line up at the Amstel Gold Race, prelude to an ‘Ardennes duo’ (Flèche and Liège, two weeks later) where Annemiek van Vleuten and her team-mates have high hopes on.

While all the spotlight is taken by its final circuit, where the whole race was actually held last time around in 2021 due to covid restrictions, the Amstel Gold will still cover some tough climbs halfway through -some to mention will be Eyserbosweg (-76km), Fromberg (-72km) and Keutenberg (-68km), with maximum slopes of 20%– before entering Valkenburg and climbing 3x Geulhemmerberg and Bemelerberg plus 4x the legendary Cauberg, crested for the last time with just over 1km to go.
