Analysis

Back to a land of dreams. The Movistar Team lived in 2021 one of the greatest moments in its decorated four-decade history at the Tour of Flanders. Annemiek van Vleuten started to build here a dream season, bringing the Sebastián Unzué-led squad its first Monument and achieving the first victory of a Spanish squad in one of the historically hardest races for teams from our country. An event where, in 2022, the Blues hope to shine again.

11 climbs and as many cobbled sectors are again on the 159km course around Oudenaarde. Except for the first two pavé sections, everything is condensed into two loops around the finishing area. The first circuit includes the Molenberg (81km), always selective; the second, with six climbs in barely thirty kilometers, includes basically the best that’s in store in the area. Riders will take on the horrible Koppenberg (114km) for the first time; will then tackle the Steenbeekdries (119km) and Taaienberg (122km); and after the Kruisberg, they will head towards the traditional, and decisive, Oude Kwaremont (142km) + Paterberg (145km), where Miek cemented her victory from last year. Hopefully history repeats itself this year…!
