Analysis

The 2022 Giro dell’Emilia was a moment of sporting and personal realization for Enric Mas, and the Spaniard from the Movistar Team will aim in the 106th edition of the Italian race at bouncing back again and starting the final stretch of his 2023 with a sweet taste.

The finale is as traditional and well-known as one could expect: following the early climbs of Sanone and Gavignano / Monte Nonascoso, the peloton will tackle five decisive climbs to the Santuario de San Luca, towering over the city of Bologna.

Even tougher than, for example, the Mur de Huy, with a very steady 2km uphill, the toughest part is the slopes after the double ‘Curva delle Orfanelle’, 200m at 20% which will surely tear apart the favourites’ group on the final passages.
