Analysis

The area called ‘Levante Almeriense’ in southeastern Spain will kick off chapter six of the Movistar Team’s marvelous women’s project. The Women Cycling Pro Costa de Almería race started off as a modest national event in 2022, and now ranked UCI 1.1, will bring several WorldTour squads to the start of an event also featuring the Blues for the first time.

The 135km course between Campohermoso (Níjar) and Cuevas del Almanzora includes three categorized climbs: Río de Aguas and Cueva de Sorbas (both Cat-3) into the first half of the race, then the Geoda de Pulpí (Cat-2) with 28km to go. If crosswinds, attacks or any unexpected events don’t prevent it, a bunch sprint is the most likely finish scenario.
