Analysis

The Movistar Team enters its absolute A-team -though still in progressing form, thinking more about the biggest events of the season than the early ones- to the first WWT race on European soil of 2023, an Omloop Het Nieuwsblad where the Blues will also defend Annemiek van Vleuten’s brilliant 2022 win.

Eight climbs and five cobbled sectors are on the menu of the first big spring classic of the year, with the first key point, the tough Molenberg, located quite far from the end, 50km to the end.

From its summit, most ascents of the race will come quite close together, including the two decisive, final ones: Kapelmuur (-16km) and Bosberg (-12km). The race usually gets decided there, with only the world’s best at the front.
