Analysis

The classics campaign reaches on Sunday 31st March another high point with the 21st Ronde van Vlaanderen, a tremendously demanding event with its 12 climbs and seven cobbled sectors. ‘De Ronde’ will always remain a great memory to the Movistar Team, after their 2021 victory with the legendary Annemiek van Vleuten.

The last 90km gather all demanding points of the race, with four main places of attrition: the Molenberg (-79km), with its intricate entry and tough slopes; the Koppenberg (-45km), the toughest at a max 22%, from which the race usually exits completely torn apart; the Taaienberg (-37km), short and intense, with a wind-exposed flat afterwards; and the decisive Oude Kwaremont (-17km) + Paterberg (-13km), the last two cobbled hills towards the finish in Oudenaarde.
