Telefónica-backed ladies complete great effort into Halden’s uphill finish, come just over 2′ behind untouchable Team Sunweb to claim third top-ten result in as many TTTs in 2018.

German team Sunweb authoritatively won Thursday’s team time trial (1.WWT, 24km) in the Ladies Tour of Norway, a race not counting for the stagerace’s overall classification yet featuring all of the biggest squads in the circuit battling out against the rookie Movistar Team.

The outfit directed by Jorge Sanz opted for a prudent, ultimately wise strategy, saving energy for the final 2km uphill in the Fredriksten fortress. 11th through the intermediate check, more than one minute behind the leaders, the fine work by González and Oyarbide before the ascent and the good climbing pace from Neylan, Jasinska, Biannic and García took the Blues up to 8th in the day, 2’22” behind the winners and exactly one minute after the 5th place.

The Telefónica-backed team -8th in the Giro Rosa; 9th at last Saturday’s Sweden TTT- now looks towards the three-day event starting on Friday, a mixture of short hills, long mileages and surely tight gaps until Sunday’s showdown.
