Argentinian race's preview events

Training ride at 30+ºC followed by teams' presentation and showcase night criterium at the region's capital city, before the opening, flat stage to Pocito on Sunday.

Following their arrival to Argentina last Friday, the Movistar Team spent their Saturday prior to the start of the 37th Vuelta a San Juan attending the compulsory events inherent to such a race. After a mild training session near the region’s capital, under sun and temperatures exceeding 30ºC, the squad directed by José Luis Jaimerena -which also had Nairo Quintana present at the top riders’ press conference– headed into the race-opening festivities held by the organisers.

The teams’ presentation at the Bicentennial Theatre was followed by a showcase night criterium, divided into three legs and where the Blues had an opportunity to spin their legs for nearly half an hour in front of the crowd before the official start. Sunday will bring real action, with a flat, 159km stage one towards Pocito suiting the sprinters (10.30pm CEST, Eurosport).
