Telefónica-backed squad to start as last of 22 teams on Saturday's opening TTT (13km) around Torrevieja, at 8.20pm CEST.

Deprived of one of its biggest assets with Richard Carapaz’s absence, yet with a really solid squad, the Movistar Team is counting the hours to start their 40th consecutive appearance in the Vuelta a España, in the Alicante province.

Following a morning ride where they combined their road Canyon bikes -two of which, Nelson Oliveira and Marc Soler’s, will be equipped with disc brakes– with the Speedmax TT machines, Alejandro Valverdethe race’s bib #1and Nairo Quintana headed to Teulada in the afternoon for the top riders’ press conference, alongside Primoz Roglic (TJV), Esteban Chaves (MTS), Jakob Fuglsang and Miguel Ángel López (AST).

The Blues’ agenda also included the teams’ presentation, with Rojas, Oliveira, Pedrero, Arcas, Soler and Erviti stepping onto the scene of the Moraira castle alongside their team-mates, two days before a Torrevieja TTT (13.3km) where they will be last off the start ramp (8.20pm CEST).
