GP Miguel Indurain
203.2 Kilometers
The race will be broadcast live on Eurosport 1 and GCN, at 3pm CEST.
The Eusebio Unzué-led organisation has won in Estella ten times, three of which after the race took its current GP Indurain moniker. Alejandro Valverde has won twice, in 2014 and 2018, with Ion Izagirre notching up the victory in 2016.
The Movistar Team is back home! The race that carries the name of the best Spanish cyclist of all time and the only event held entirely in Navarra comes back with a new, higher category as part of the UCI ProSeries, the echelon right below the WorldTour, which will provide the GP Indurain with an even better field of contenders as Alejandro Valverde rides in front of his ‘bosses’.
The route remains basically unchanged from the last time the event was held in 2019. A lumpy first half, with no big climbs -yet with the first of four ascents to the steep Alto de Ibarra-, leads the race to the first time up Eraul (Cat-2, 102km), after which the race covers a road to be tackled quite a few times, through Abárzuza, the non-categorized Alto de Muru and the Alto de Ibarra towards the finish line.
The final loop starts with the climbs of the Pantano de Alloz dam, the Alto de Arradia and the Alto de Guirguillano (Cat-1; 137km), to later ascend to Lezaun (Cat-2; 156km) and entering a shorter circuit with 2x Muru + Ibarra; the non-categorized Alto de Irache and, most importantly, Eraul (Cat-2; 193km), whose distance to the finish has made it decisive for the past few years.
