The Ladies Tour of Norway opens a European stage-racing tournée for the women’s Movistar Team, with five multi-day events in just over a month and a half. This will also be, in fact, the last edition of the Norwegian race with its current name, with its organisers – in collaboration with the Danish and Swedish federations – planning to turn it into the ‘Battle of the North’ in 2022, a six-day race across Scandinavia.
It will be a hard course on the 10th edition of the race, with long stages -always above 140km-, quite hilly and also including a mountain-top finish: Norefjell (Saturday 14th), over 11km at 6%. That climb will be the main judge of a race actually starting with another hill-top finish, a shorter one (1km at 4%), in Sarpsborg (Thursday 12th). Another small, steep climb next to the finish in Mysen (Friday 13th, st. 2) will be covered before Saturday’s decider; the final day towards Halden (Sunday 15th) is expected to be one for the sprinters.
