The Canyon Ultimate CF SLX bike Alejandro Valverde used during the 2019 season as World Champion, which the Movistar Team made available to the Spanish Red Cross in April 2020 to support the organisation in the most difficult moments of the health crisis, has finally met her new owner.

Colombia’s Jonathan Leiva was the person rewarded, from more than one thousand people participating in a charity action, #CruzRojaResponde, through which the Abarca Sports organisation contributed with 17,000€ to help the efforts from the people involved with the Red Cross in the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to travel restrictions this imposed last year, the handover could not take place last year, as it was initially announced, and so both parties agreed it would be better for the bike to be sent directly to Colombia.

In Popayán, in the Cauca department, Leiva proudly used it for the first time, and took some pictures here presented to you, last week. Before that, the bike had stayed well taken care of for the last year and a half at the Movistar Team’s headquarters in Pamplona, even making it into the ‘La última Bala‘ video, published in early November. The day after that video was filmed, Movistar Team members packed it and sent it across the Atlantic, together with an Alejandro Valverde-signed jersey Leiva now also enjoys. A truly unique souvenir!
