Analysis

Faithful to its itinerant style from the last few years, with no defined formula and reliant on the men’s TDF which ASO invests all its resources on, La Course visits Pau in 2019, venue -on the same afternoon of Friday 19th July when the women’s race is held- of the trascendental ITT (stage 13) of the ‘Grande Boucle’.

The route won’t thus be nearly as mountainous as the spectacular 2018 race, rather than a hilly course when the sprinters will also have a say. It will be five laps and 121km into a parcours that includes the Côte de Gelos (1.1km at 7.8% avg.), later followed by two other climbs -the second: 1km at 6.7%- before the finish, which also features a short 100m slope at 17% prior to the final straight.
