Analysis

The Tour de La Provence will feature in 2020 a higher-quality field than in previous editions due to the cancellation of the Tour of Oman, which it shared dates with. The Movistar Team, which lined up for the first time ever at the French event last season, is sending a team full of young talent and some good chances to the race. The 2020 route does not contain time trials, instead equally distributing protagonism between the sprinters (two stages) and the climbers (the other two).

The finishes at Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer (Thursday 13th), completely flat -watch out for the wind-, and Aix-en-Provence (Sunday 16th), climbing La Cride (Cat-3) 16km from the end, will be the chances for the fast legs, while the race will be decided on Friday 14th, over the climbs of Brûlat (2.4km at 8.5%) and Les Crêtes (3.4km, 8%), and most importantly Saturday 14th, climbing the first half of the legendary Mont Ventoux to the Chalet Reynard (14.6km / 7.6%).
