Analysis

For the third year on a row, the Movistar Team will have the chance to compete on home soil, Navarra, also with their women’s squad. Two tough courses will again be on the menu for the Navarra Womens Classics, with Annemiek van Vleuten, winner of both events in 2020, will lead a strong field of participants.

The climbers will be the favourites on day one (Thursday 13th), over 128km from Zudaire to Lekunberri, with up to eight climbs well known by the team and everyone in the area: Eraul (Cat-3), Lezaun (Cat-3), Arradia (Cat-3), San Cristóbal (Cat-3), Guembe (Cat-2), Goñi (Cat-3), Zuarrarrate (Cat-2) and Mugiro (Cat-3).

Race two, on Friday 14th, will feature a less selective, more open course, with 125km around Pamplona likely to see the wind playing a factor, with short, steep climbs -such as Tirapu or the cobbled ‘muro’ of Artajona- and, most importantly, El Perdón, the race decided with about 20km from the finish.

** The Navarra Classics are two UCI 1.1 events, with different participants from one to the other. The list featured here includes all Blue riders travelling to Navarra. Different lineups can be expected.
