Analysis

Almost with no respite after her historic win in La Vuelta Femenina, Annemiek van Vleuten is back together with the Movistar Team at the second edition of Itzulia Women. This year’s route, quite open to all riders, will still offer hard climbs that could suit the World Champion.

On Friday 12th, the riders will tackle San Miguel -5.8km at 4.6%- quite close to the finish in Markina, 7km from the end. Saturday 13th will see the peloton tackle some short, sharp ascents near the arrival to Amurrio, while Sunday 14th will mark a ‘Klasika light’, with the famous ascents of the Gipuzkoa race – yet further away from the finish than usual: Jaizkibel (Cat-1), Gurutze (Cat-3) and Mendizorrotz (Cat-2; 4.1km at 7.3%) with 28km to go.
