Analysis

The Trofeo Alfredo Binda -a long-standing women’s race with more than 40 editions, above twenty of which as a pro event- anticipates the UCI Women’s WorldTour’s campaign of climbers’ courses, which will start with the Ardennes classics. A really demanding race in case of bad weather, as happened in 2018, or open to small groups / pelotons’ sprints on dry roads, the route is hard enough for all kinds of scenarios, as well as suited to the Movistar Team’s racing style.

The route will be essentially identical to 2018 (131.1 kilometers). There a first point-to-point section from Taino to Cittiglio’s finish (22km) and a first, longer loop towards the east -nearly fourty kilometers-, with a major climb to Cunardo (4km at 4.6%), before reaching Cittiglio again and covering a shorter, final circuit (four laps of 18km each). There will be two ascents at this one: Casale, with one kilometer at 5.7%, and most notably Orino, over 3km at almost 6%, to be crested for the final time with 7km remaining.
