Analysis

Another chance to race at home! Movistar Team will greatly enjoy their home Navarra roads for a fourth consecutive year, as they tackle two tough courses that offer chances to both climbers and punchy finishers. The Navarra Women’s Elite Classics are really earning their place and prestige in the calendar.

Tuesday 10th will actually mark a return to ‘where everything started’: Irurtzun, the headquarters of the aluminum manufacturer INASA / Reynolds, the team’s first sponsor. A demanding course, one of the most grueling in the whole season with 2800m of elevation gain and 137km, featuring the climbs of Goñi (Cat-2), Ulzurrun (Cat-3), Uitzi (Cat-3), Usategieta (Cat-3), Saldías (Cat-2), Beruete (Cat-3) and 2x Zuarrarrate (Cat-2), the latter of those with just 9km to go.

The second race on Wednesday 11th will be quite similar to last year’s, focused on the ‘muros’ around the region’s capital, such as the cobbled Artajona, and especially the ascent to El Perdón, barely twenty kilometers from the finish line.
