Analysis

Thirty kilometers in three years. One of the classics which the Movistar Team has covered every single year, seven in total, since its inception, Gent-Wevelgem has gone from crossing the 140km barrier in 2020 to reaching a very reasonable 171km in 2024, ten more than a year prior. And even if the ‘Plugstreets’, gravel roads, covered by the men are still not featured here, it’s a challenging, open race for either classics specialists or sprinters.

Seven climbs are on the programme, with a dual ascent of the infamous Kemmelberg -through its two sides- as the most decisive, as well as the final uphill with 35km to go. From there, an always exciting, almost one-hour-long pursuit follows through to the line.
