Tour de Suisse
836 Kilometers 8 Stages
Live pictures will be available in selected European countries -not Spain- on Eurosport. The world feed starts at 15.00 CEST most days, except for Friday (14.30) and Saturday (15.15).
There will be 10-6-4″ at the finish of all six road stages, with 3-2-1″ attributed at the intermediate sprints, two within a kilometer (the so-called Tissot KM).
Three overall victories have been claimed by Eusebio Unzué’s squads in the Tour de Suisse: one with Vladimir Karpets (2007) and two consecutive ones with Rui Costa (2012, 2013).
With Gino Mäder always in our memories, the 2024 Tour de Suisse sees the Movistar Team take on a plethora of mountain-top finishes: no less than five, including the final mountain TT (Sunday 16th) of 15.6km in Villars-sur-Ollon, with no descents in stage finishes and absolute protagonism for climbers and stage race specialists. The Helvetic race marks Enric Mas’ last competition before the start of the Tour de France on June 29th.
A square-shaped prologue -considered in official terms as stage one- of less than 5km in Vaduz, Liechtenstein (Sunday 9th), will leave room to two tricky finishes, not easy at all for sprinters, with hills close to the finish in Regensdorf (Monday 10th) and Rüschlikon (Tuesday 11th). From there, the way will always be uphill.
On Wednesday 12th, the riders will reach almost 2,100 meters on top of the Gotthard (Cat-1); on Thursday 13th, on Ticino soil, the peloton will finish up Cari (Cat-1); Friday 14th will take the bunch to Blatten (Cat-1) on a shortened, 42km route after the Nufenenpass was cancelled due to snow; and on Saturday 15th, over 118km of tough Romandy mountains, 2x the Col de la Croix (Cat-2) and a finish in Villars (Cat-1), on the same road the decisive ITT will be held.
