Analysis

It’s literally ‘the race of Nokere’ (there was some inside joke on Spanish cycling websites for years, but there’s actually no town called Koerse). Leaving that funny note aside, it’s an important race just before getting back to WorldTour racing, as the Nokere Koerse has entered the ProSeries, cycling’s second tier, in just two editions, with a strong field against which the Movistar Team will go for its long-sought first win of the season.

The race covers 124km from Deinze to the village giving its name to the race, with a short point-to-point route followed by two circuits. The first one features three climbs to Lange Ast (400m, 5.2%) and as many to the cobbled Nokereberg (350m at 5.7%), while the second is ‘limited’ the four ascents to the finishing area. This race requires good positioning, some luck, attention over the cobblestones -six different sectors over the course- and a strong final kick to go for glory!
