There will be live images at Eurosport Player and GCN.
There will be 10-6-4″ at the finish of all road stages, plus 3-2-1″ at intermediate sprints.
The women’s Giro changes organisers -PMG Sport / Starlight is now in charge-, category -they will spend one year into the ProSeries echelon, before returning to the WorldTour in 2022- and even name in 2022. Known as Giro Rosa for almost a decade, the Italian stagerace returns to its original Giro Donne moniker, the longest event in the calendar (10 stages) and one of the most demanding.
In a race more than one week long, there’s space for all kinds of riders and routes. The race will feature an opening TTT (Friday 2nd), the only one this year, over 26km on slightly uphill roads. Riders will also tackle two mountain-top finishes –Prato Nevoso (Saturday 3rd) and Matajur (Saturday 10th)- and a mountain TT, over 11km with a central section at 7%, towards Riale on Monday 5th.
Between this tough start -with stage three also offering some hills, yet still a bunch kick chance, towards Ovada’s finish on Sunday 4th- and the final stages in the Friuli, there will be plenty of sprint opportunities. Suited for fast finishers are the ‘arrivi’ in Carugate (Tuesday 6th); Colico (Wednesday 7th), after no less than 155km; and Mortegliano (Friday 9th). The attackers will also enjoy some chances at lumpy circuits in Puegnago del Garda (Thursday 8th) and the final stage in Cormons (Sunday 11th).
