Analysis

Two years after Alejandro Valverde’s last pro victory and twelve months away from Ruben Guerreiro’s overall podium in Santiago’s Plaza del Obradoiro, the Movistar Team returns to O Gran Camiño, which is increasingly building a reputation as a prestigious event with good routes, excellent organisation and top-level winners.

Over a not-disdainable-at-all 15km ITT course in and around A Coruña (Thursday 22nd), the GC will start to get sorted before the decisive showdown on Sunday 25th, twice over the tough slopes -6.6km at 8%- of the Monte Aloia, in Tui. Between that, two lumpy stages on Friday -3000m elevation gain in Lugo, towards Chantada- and Saturday, when the race will kick off from Carlos Canal’s hometown Xinzo de Limia.
