Analysis

Widening further and further the calendar to over 30 days of racing, the Spanish women’s pro calendar starts its 2024 with the Challenge Mallorca, one that offers chances for every kind of rider. As it’s traditional in the Balearic event, despite a big portion of the Blue squad being called up to the Islands, only six can compete at each of the three individual trophies, one-day races, part of the competition.

The sprinters will have their chance in Ses Salines (Saturday 20th), with only two Cat-4 climbs along the way. The race should be quite more open at the Trofeo Palma (Saturday 21st), over a very challenging final 40km including the ‘colls’ of Claret (Cat-2), Grau (Cat-3), Sa Creu (Cat-3) and the finish atop the Castell de Bellver (Cat-3). To close things down (Monday 22nd), another round of ascents with Claret (Cat-2), Sa Gramola (Cat-3) and S’Arracó (Cat-4), 11km from the last finish in Andratx.
