La Vuelta Femenina
878 Kilometers 8 Stages
Every stage finale will be broadcast live on Eurosport.
There will be 10-6-4″ at the finish of the seven road stages, with 6-4-2″ being attributed at the intermediate sprints.
Annemiek van Vleuten won the maiden edition of this race for the Movistar Team in 2023.
Leaving behind a challenging spring, the Movistar Team fully immerses into the ‘Spanish month of May’ with the first Grand Tour of the Women’s WT season. The second edition of La Vuelta offers an open route, with demanding stages that might still leave everything open when we reach the final day – which will start from Distrito Telefónica in Madrid (Sunday 5th May), to honour the company’s 100th Anniversary celebrations.
To reach the country’s capital, and the decisive climbs of Morcuera (10km at 6.7%) and Cotos / Valdesquí (6.5km at 6,5%), another seven stages will be covered, one more than in 2023. A 16km team time trial in Valencia (Sunday 28th April) and an opening chance for the sprinters in Moncófar (Monday 29th) will kick off the action in a race which will get into the hills on stage three, Tuesday 30th, towards Teruel, where either a breakaway or a reduced field should have their say.
Zaragoza (Wednesday 1st May), wind permitting, should be the last bunch sprint, as riders take on Jaca’s Fuerte Rapitán on Thursday 2nd (just over 3km at 8%); the first mountain finish will come on Friday 3rd, with the Laguna Negra de Vinuesa -last 7km at 6%-; and on Saturday 4th, prior to the Sierra de Guadarrama, the bunch will uphill-sprint in Sigüenza (600m at 8%).
