Alejandro Valverde crowns a legendary sporting career with a long-awaited, well-deserved rainbow jersey conquered in Innsbruck (Austria). It’s the top of a season with plenty of difficulties in the Grand Tours – and despite that, the team gets to wear the Giro’s Maglia Bianca, wins the team prize at both Giro and Vuelta and claims stage victories at all three. Some other big moments of joy are brought by Marc Soler, brilliant winner of Paris-Nice, and Richard Carapaz, author of a sensational ‘Corsa Rosa’ (4th overall), not to forget about the inception of the new Movistar women’s team, with surprisingly impeccable performances all season long (15 victories in Spain and abroad).
